The London City office is the hub and centre point for the London Metal Exchange and the LIFFE Commodity Exchange approved warehouses. This office is the liaison link between Steinweg warehouses worldwide and the London brokers and dealers trading on the various London commodity exchanges, including the London Minor Metals Trade Association. Warrants and warehouse receipts and other documentation are issued in London and handed to the commodity exchange members and dealers and these proof of ownership documents are then bought and sold to and on behalf of broker clients worldwide.

In the morning hours the main points of contact are the Far East and European operations and in the afternoon the emphasis switches to the continents of North and South America with the European trade continuing to generate a lot of activity.

The metals traded on the London Metal Exchange are primary aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, aluminium alloy, plastics and steel. The prices achieved on the morning Ring of the London Metal exchange are used worldwide as pricing guidelines for that day.

The Softs commodities for which the London office issues warrants are cocoa and coffee.

Documentation issued in connection with metals warehoused under the control of the London Minor Metals Association would be in the form of warehouse receipts and warehouse warrants which have the same value as Title documents to the warrants issued for the other two exchanges.
