The C. Steinweg Group (“Steinweg”) is a globally operating independent service provider in the fields of warehousing, stevedoring, forwarding, chartering and other commodity related value added-services.
With offices, warehouses and terminals at strategic locations across the globe in more than 50 countries and with over 5,500 skilled and experienced employees, Steinweg is well equipped to handle a wide range of cargo and commodities.
As part of the value added services, Steinweg provides Trade Commodity Financing (“TCF”) to selected customers based on strict criteria. Steinweg has successfully grown its TCF services in the past years and is preparing for further growth. Therefore, Steinweg intends to expand its Group Treasury & TCF team in Rotterdam with an experienced Collateral and Risk Manager (“CRM”).
Key tasks & responsibilities
Within a team of 5 colleagues and reporting the Group Treasurer, the CRM will be jointly responsible for the daily operational collateral and risk management, as well as working on further professionalization and growth of the TCF services.
The tasks and responsibilities of the CRM will include a.o.:
- Structuring and arranging TCF agreements with customers (and amendments thereto), including obtaining formal internal and external (bank) approvals.
- Onboarding of new customers and periodically reviewing existing customers, including KYC and credit checks and preparation of the formal TCF agreements.
- Acting operationally as first point of contact for TCF customers, banks and Steinweg warehouses in respect to financing transactions.
- Coordinating and following up individual TCF transactions (under existing TCF agreements) on a daily basis, including (but not limited to) preparing and reviewing specific transaction documents, initiating payments, invoicing, reconciliation of expected cashflows and instructing the relevant Steinweg warehouse to release repaid commodities to the customer.
- Proactive and continuous monitoring of:
a. Customer, bank and concentration limits;
b. Collateral position in respect to the financing portfolio based on daily ”mark-to-markets” and arrange (if necessary) variation margins from the customers.
- Daily operational cash management regarding the TCF activities:
a. Monitor and manage bank balances;
b. Arrange drawdowns under existing credit facilities.
- Preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports, both internally and externally to banks.
- Ensure that the collateral and risk management framework keeps pace with the growth of the activities.
- Participate in various projects, including the development of an on-line TCF proposition towards customers.
Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, economics or commodity finance related field
- 5 years or more relevant working experience
- Knowledge of international laws and regulations in the field of documentary payments and similar payment techniques.
- Affinity with logistics services, commodity trading, treasury and/or software development processes is appreciated.

- Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Fluency in English is essential, Dutch is desirable.
