Finance Manager Oman

Since 2004 C. Steinweg Oman LLC (CSO) operates a large general cargo terminal in Sohar (Oman) and employs approximately 500 fte. This terminal a.o. facilitates the transfer of cargoes between ship and shore as well as transshipment of cargoes. CSO handles a wide variety of cargoes: Dry Bulk (aggregates, concentrates, ores, special products), Project Cargo (OOG and heavy lifts), Steel Products (coils, billets, wire rods, plates), Generals, RoRo (new cars, building equipment, mafi),Timber and livestock. CSO operates 24 hrs per day from Sunday till Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays dry bulk and roro operations continue around the clock. Other activities are executed on overtime basis however, occur frequently.


For our financial department  we are currently looking for an experienced:


Finance Manager


The Finance Manager will be in charge of the ensurance of the compliancy of Steinweg Oman with all applicable Financial (IFRS) Guidelines, overall financial (management) processes and applicable laws of the Sultanate of Oman. You will be responsible for the provisioning of timely and accurate financial information to the Board of Directors and shareholders.  As a financial manager of Steinweg Oman you will report directly to the CEO and you will manage a team of 7 direct reports ( Accounting Department and Debt collection and Control Department).  You will be maintaining external relations with parties such as auditors, lawyers, insurance broker, banks and other suppliers.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
  • Accurate and timely month-end closing procedures (including management reporting and group reporting);
  • Accurate preparations and timely pay-out of monthly salaries;
  • Accurate and timely year-end closing procedures including annual report preparations;
  • Internal control and (overall) compliance;
  • Annual budget preparations in close cooperation with the CEO and Commercial Manager;
  • Implementation of financial related IT projects;
  • Annual insurance renewals and maintaining overall relationships with insurance companies;
  • Banking facility renewals and maintaining overall relationships with bank;
  • Financial audit, IFRS compliance, and maintaining overall relationships with external auditors;
  • Cash flow forecasting including variance analysis;
  • Tax (audit) preparations (at the moment withholding tax and corporate income tax*) and maintaining relationships with tax advisors;
  • Debt collection and control;
  • Foreign currency management (predominantly EURO, USD, and OMR);
  • Overall (financial) CEO advisor in relation to a various number of financial topics (investments in assets and related depreciation policies, revenue recognition, contract management, etc.)

* The introduction of VAT is expected per January 1, 2020. The preparations and implementation of VAT falls under the responsibility of the Finance Manager and Commercial Manager.

Who are you:
  • You have a (Post) Master degree in Finance or Accounting, qualified Register Accountant (or ACCA);
  • At least 5 – 7  years of work experience in a financial position preferably in an international work environment;
  • Proven track record of management and Leadership skills are a must;
  • You have outstanding interpersonal skills which enable you to build strong relations ships internally and externally;
  • You are an excellent communicator, structured, pragmatic and a problem solver;
  • As a manager you are tenacious in achieving your goals but flexible in the way in the way you achieve them;
  • Resilient of stress and able to prioritize;
  • Open for innovation and eager to optimize processes and automation;
  • As a leader you are charismatic and have a hands-on mentality;
  • As a person you are open, truthful, upright, respectful and integer;
  • You are proficient in Dutch, English, Arabic is a plus;
  • Working knowledge and experience with automated systems and finance software packages.
