Job description and activities:

The ICT Support Assistant will provide technical support and assistance to the ICT department and end-users within the organization. He will be responsible for resolving technical issues, performing system maintenance tasks, and offering guidance on ICT related matters. He will report to ICT Team Leader.

The ICT Support Assistant is required to be flexible to work in shifts, after working hours and be available as standby on weekends and holidays. The ICT Support Assistant will continually improve knowledge and skills required to stay up to date professionally.

Position Objective:

ICT Support Assistant provides technical support and assistance to organization’s ICT department and its users, key objectives include:

  • Technical Support, Maintenance, Documentation, Training, Security, Collaboration,  Monitoring, Inventory Management and Administrative support and any other task performed with in ICT department.

Position in the company:

ICT Support assistant is part of ICT Department and reports to ICT Team Leader.

Key tasks and accountabilities:

Technical Support:

  • Respond to user inquiries and provide technical assistance via phone, email, or in person.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for end-users.
  • Assist in resolving technical problems and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
  • Supports users after working hours and available on weekly standby duty.

System Maintenance:

  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, and system configurations.
  • Assist in the installation and setup of hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Conduct system checks to ensure proper functionality and address any identified issues.
  • Create,  and maintain documentation for IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals.
  • Generate reports on technical issues, resolutions, and system performance for review by senior IT personnel.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create,  and maintain documentation for IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals.

User Training and Support:

  • Provide basic training to users on software applications, hardware usage, and IT best practices.
  • Educate users on security awareness and data protection measures.

IT Inventory Management:

  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate procurement of necessary IT supplies or equipment.

Security and Compliance:

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures, such as antivirus updates, firewalls, and data backup procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulations.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with IT team members to address complex issues or projects.
  • Communicate effectively with different departments to understand their IT needs and provide appropriate support.

Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor systems and networks for performance issues, security threats, and irregularities.

Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical problems to minimize downtime.

Profile, qualifications competencies and skills:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of LAN, TCP/IP, Windows, network file & printer Installation, MS Office.
  • Strong problem trouble shooting and solving skills.
  • Excellent client-facing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
