About the Wereldhavendagen
Now in its 48th edition, the Wereldhavendagen 2025 is Rotterdam’s annual open-port festival. It began as a handful of harbor tours and has grown into a citywide program on and along the water. The goal is unchanged: to connect the city with its port community and offer a behind-the-scenes look at maritime work. Alongside ship visits and demonstrations, the program highlights innovation, sustainability, and careers, with activities for families, students, and anyone interested in the port.
Our Participation at the Wereldhavendagen 2025
From 5-7 September, we took part together with our daughter company Marcor Stevedoring. As in previous years, our stand was on the Willemskade, right in front of our former headquarters (1913-1991), a fitting place to welcome visitors and talk about the work we do every day.

Throughout the weekend, colleagues met a steady stream of guests and walked them through our day-to-day: storage, handling, and movement of diverse commodities. It was a great opportunity to show how port logistics works firsthand.
Behind the Scenes at Steinweg (Bus Tour)
For the first time, we ran our “Behind the Scenes at Steinweg” bus tour. The route took visitors through Pier 6, past warehouses and stacks of aluminum, with cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment in action. It then continued to the Beatrix Terminal for a look at an area that’s normally off-limits. Seeing the teams and equipment in action made the pace and scale of port logistics tangible.
At the Stand
Back at the stand, there was plenty to see and do. A large forklift and a smaller excavator were parked next to the stand so people could sit in them and take photos. To give visitors a better feel for our work, we displayed a selection of our commodities in clear tubes with short fact cards, plus a quiz. We had a crane simulator that drew visitors of all ages, and the temporary tattoos were a popular icebreaker, fun that sparked plenty of good conversations.
Thank You & Looking Ahead
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our stand or joined the tour, and to our colleagues who made it happen. We can look back on a successful, well-attended weekend that put our day-to-day work in the spotlight, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming you at next year’s edition.
