Overview:

Plan, direct and coordinate the C. Steinweg Bridge Tanzania bulk operations at a high standard and profitable level. Maintain systems and procedures to maximise operational efficiencies, manage staff for optimum performance, and assume full bottom-line responsibility for the Profit and Loss of the company’s bulk operations.

Key Job Functions:

General Management of the Operation

  • Management of the day-to-day operations of the division.
  • Plan, organize and utilise resources under your control.
  • Apply strategic planning to determine divisional objectives.
  • Coordinate financial and budget activities for maximum operational efficiencies.
  • Perform all logistical and administrative activities essential to sustaining revenue and client satisfaction.
  • Control expenses vs. budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Full management and control of bulk logistics whilst adhering to all applicable company and legislative policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve SOP’s and work instructions.
  • Assess and manage staff and operational performance.
  • Manage the admin month-end deadline.
  • Spot check and validate client invoices.
  • Manage budgets and financial performance.
  • Provide monthly financial reporting on operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives across all operations.

Manage Staff

  • Manage all staff relations within the division.
  • Maintain good relationships with line and staff functions.
  • Monitor and control absenteeism, labour turnover, overtime and leave management.
  • Ensure recruitment and selection of suitable staff within budget constraints.
  • Implement effective communication and performance management systems.
  • Maintain sound labour relations in accordance with disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Ensure ongoing employee growth and development through training interventions.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills to enhance motivation and productivity.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Establish and maintain high-level relationships with key clients and suppliers.
  • Promote excellent customer service.
  • Promote Just-in-Time (JIT) and Zero Defect principles.
  • Negotiate rates and services with suppliers where applicable.
  • Manage service provider relationships.
  • Assist management in identifying growth opportunities.

Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure new business and retention budgets are achieved.
  • Perform all logistical and administrative activities essential to sustaining revenue and client satisfaction.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

Education

  • Degree or Diploma
  • Transport and Logistics Management

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of Administrative Experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of Management Experience.

Technical Skills

  • Computer literate.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel.
  • Microsoft Email. Microsoft Word.
  • Stock Management Software / Invoicing Software.
  • Company record-keeping and documentation knowledge.
