Job Summary:

Full operational management of the SA Transport businesses and expanding the business through new clients and markets or partnerships, including:

  •  Developing and implementing long-term operational/technological strategies in line with business objectives and growth
  • Train, guide and support staff in strategy, operational effectiveness, and technology execution
  • Managing daily operations with the management team to drive service delivery and swift problem resolution
  • Driving customer-focused culture (internal & external)
  • Commercial mindset to grow, evolve and diversify the business (Geographically and services)
  • Ensuring efficiency, productivity, and alignment with strategic goals
  • Operating system management and development, incl SOP’s
  • Strong systems focus and technological advancement of the business
  • People management – staff growth, enhancement and succession planning
  • Management and growth of both Operations and Admin teams
  • Risk Management;
    • Ensuring compliance throughout in conjunction with HSE Manager and developing policies and procedures and managing adherence thereof
  • Key account management & growth
  • Implement new client contracts from an operational & administrative perspective
  • Constantly review market conditions across the SA Transport environment
  • Operational excellence.

  • Ensure that operational processes are current and being always followed / Improved
  • Put new & existing business SOP’s in place
  • Manage business units and divisions throughout SA
  • Strong relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Develop the culture & motivate the full team
  • Work closely with the national offices to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Strong communication at all levels to ensure swift, decisive progress
  • Manage the financial aspects of the Transport division in line with budgeted KPI’s
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory requirements
  • Evolve operational, financial & commercial BI visibility of where business is tracking over a short, medium and long term
  • Resolve queries quickly & effectively to mitigate business risk
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients
  • Develop & manage supplier relationships
  • Drive operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills at all times.
  • Manage operational KPIs throughout the country

Inherent Key Requirements of the job

  • Education: Degree/MBA in Business Management, Operations/ Logistics Management, Project Management or Engineering
  • Experience: 10 years of professional experience in operations or a senior leadership role is required
  • Proven history of business growth, developing and implementing long-term operational strategies in 3PL/4PL environment
